  1. Colorado State University: MU 581A1:  Computers in Music Education.

    June 23-27, 2008

    This course is designed to train general music teachers in achieving success with computer technology. It covers user-friendly music software for general classroom  instruction. Software covered includes several Electronic Courseware Systems general music bundling options; Sibelius' Groovy Music series; The Instruments, Starclass and MIDISaurus Instruments; Music Ace 1 & 2; Mastering Music and Sony Jam Trax and/or Super Dooper Music Looper. This course will help all general music teachers because there are many innovative options for teaching general music with computer technology.  Fees for 2 graduate credits are $838 and $60 videoconferencing services.

    IMPORTANT TECHNOLOGY INFORMATION: This course will be taught as an intensive one-week online workshop. Students will need access to a computer and telephone continually from 8 AM to 4 PM Monday through Friday the entire week of this class. The class will use GoToMeeting online presentations with a simultaneous telephone audio conferencing, and will include regular breaks for individual work at each student's site. The online course will provide continual online chat interaction to augment the telephone conferences. The pre-class session takes place Wednesday through Friday of the preceding week, and is mandatory for students in order to install software, test the system and confirm that they are prepared for the class.  Students are strongly encouraged to use either a speaker phone or telephone headset during the class presentations. A dependable, functioning telephone at each student's computer is absolutely required. 

  2. MU 580A1: How to Creatively Use Band-In-A-Box, SmartMusic , Mastering Music and StarPlayer.

    Every music teacher needs to understand Band In-Box because it is the nearest music software  application to "artificial intelligence". It goes far beyond automatic accompaniment generating software with ear training, transcribing, jazz theory, contemporary music styles, jazz composition and instrumental techniques. With the addition of SmartMusic, Mastering Music and StarPlayer, you will learn the latest in automatic accompaniment generating software applications on the market. 2 graduate credits.
