Curriculum: "Start-To-Finish"

from career counseling through finding permanent employment:
Start Career
Everyone starts a career and more importantly continues
one. This section assists in selecting and continuing a career, advancing
& maintaining employment; and possibly making the decision to change
careers.
Team Effort
Seeking a new job is a complex activity. For the newly
un-employed it is a significant emotional stress. Assistance is available
through local leaders, provided they are made aware. The self-reliance
program can call on these resources as needed.
Weekly Progress
Six essential activities a job
seeker needs to continuously engage in and perfect: developing an effective resume,
creating a network and refining interview skills.
Search and
Submit
With a master resume in place the job seeker can search
for available opportunities. Leads come through networking or online
searches. The resume is tailored to match the candidate’s strengths and
experience with the job requirements.
Interviewing
The resume should lead to an
invitation to interview. Candidates must be ready on short notice for an
exemplary performance and presentation of their skills and qualifications;
and ask the right questions based on research of the company.
Assess Offer
If the interview and follow up
meetings are successful an offer will be made. This last step in the
employment process focuses on evaluating the offer and deciding to accept or
