Bloom's Taxonomy:

Bloom's Taxonomy is a classification of learning objectives within education proposed in 1956 by a committee of educators chaired by Benjamin Bloom who also edited the first volume of the standard text, Taxonomy of educational objectives: the classification of educational goals (referred to as simply "the Handbook" below). Although named after Bloom, the publication followed a series of conferences from 1949 to 1953, which were designed to improve communication between educators on the design of curricula and examinations.

It refers to a classification of the different objectives that educators set for students (learning objectives). Bloom's Taxonomy divides educational objectives into three "domains": Cognitive, Affective, and Psychomotor

Can This Technology be Applied to Middle and Elementary Schools?

Barbara has successfully implemented many worthy ideas for the high school. I asked her "would you ever venture that some of your concepts be used at the middle school level? "Absolutely and even in elementary schools." It may look a little different but it is there." "Ensembles could be done with kids at the elementary school level? The Garageband for elementary school (4th and 5th graders) is realistic as was evident in the April 2012 issue featuring the elementary marching band of Salisburg, North Carolina. Garageband has its Smart Instruments on the iPad. Barbara is not especially fond of the Smart Instrument for the high school level. She doesn't teach that Garageband has an arpeggio button. Her reason is that "she wants them playing arpeggios when performing the music. Eventually they will discover the arpeggio button. But at the young level, smart Instruments makes sense for motivating them because doing these ensembles is an entirely unique musical experience for them."

What has just been introduced represents a much more foundational philosophy. It really hits the "terra ferma" allowing teachers to be far more assertive in their teaching positions.
